Edith Nesbit

She had a very adventurous and interesting life, which influenced her writing also. Born on 15th August 1858 in London, she losther father when she was quite young. She spent a part of her childhood traveling through France and Germany. Finally in 1871, the Nesbits settled at Halstead Hall in Kent, England. Here she had many happy memories which influenced her writings. With her two brothers , she had adventures around the local pond, the surrounding gardens, investigating secret passageways in their homes, and walking down railway tracks. She started writing around the age of fourteen. As an adult, she was an active socialist, cut her hair short, and embraced the values of an advanced woman. She had a large group of friends and admirers. Her other must reads are, ‘Five children and it’ (1902), ‘The treasure seekers’ (1899), ‘The Amulet’ (1906), ‘The enchanted castle’ (1907) and many more. I am sure once when you read even one book by her you will be hooked forever.
