Alberto Granado

Alberto Granado , the well-known Argentine Cuban biochemistry doctor, writer and scientist, was born on August 8,1922, in Hernando, Argentina. His father, a clerk in the railways, was also an active trade unionist. Hence , he had to flee his town along with two of his three sons after Argentinean military sprang to power. Alberto, though, was sent to Cordoba to be raised by his grandparents. It was when Alberto was studying in university that he met Che Guevara, the man who went on to become the legendary Argentine Marxist revolutionary. The duo created history in 1951 by undertaking an adventurous voyage across South America. This journey was documented by Granando in his book., Travelling with Che Guevara: The making of Revolutionary, on which was based the 2004 movie, The motorcycle Diaries. The trip ended in July 1952, with the two men parting company in Venezuela. Post that, Granando continued with his career in biochemistry. Granando breathed his last on March 5, 2011.
