WESLEY SNEIJDER is a Dutch footballer. Born on June 9, 1984, he has been the attacking midfielder for Italian club Internazionale since 2009. Sneijder was born into a football family; his father and brothers, too, have been or are current footballers.
He started his career at the age of 17 with youth club AFC Ajax and spent some time on the bench before being called upon to debut against Willem II after the winter break in February 2003 in a 6–0 win. In 2007, he became the second most expensive Dutch football player when he was bought by Real Madrid. After a successful career-run with Madrid, where he established himself as a real find, on August 27, 2009, Sneijder was sold to Internazionale and proved extremely useful to the club.
In August 2010, Sneijder was named by UEFA as the best club midfielder of the Champions League 2009–10 season. In his career, the Dutchman has earned himself the recognition of being a dead-ball specialist, thanks to his impeccable ball placement and ability to score from free kicks. Besides Inter, Sneijder also plays for the Netherlands national team, where he debuted in April 2003. The Dutch has won several recognitions, including the 2010 Bronze Boot and the 2010 Silver Ball.
