A.R. Rahman

IN India, a film wouldn’t be the same without music and A.R. Rahman is one person whose name is synonymous with soundtracks. This South Indian singer, Musician, composer and record producer has made a name for Himself not just in India, but internationally as well.
Rahman began his film-scoring career in the early ‘90s and has soared to great heights since. While his works for Bollywood films are well-known, Rahman’s works also feature in a number of regional films in India as well as in plays and international films.
Referred to as the “Mozart of Madras” in Time magazine, Rahman has won four National Film Awards, two Grammy Awards, two Oscars, fourteen filmfare Awards, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe. Rahman only gained recognition in the West recently, for his work on the film Slumdog Millionaire. However, his talent has been valued in India for decades.
