WHEN it was announced that Warner Brothers would be mankig Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone into a movie, thousands of Harry Potter look-alikes rushed to get a shot at fame. But, beating all contenders, the young English actor, Daniel Radcliffe, landed the role.
At the age of fibe, he expressed a desire to act. This dream was realized when he made his debut playing David Copperfield in a two-part adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel on BBC. When Radcliffe was selected to play Harry author J.K. Rowling herself commented, “Having seen Dan Radcliffe’s screen test I don’t think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry”.
Not just an on-screen actor, Radcliffe has also performed in several plays. Apart from bringing to life the much-loved characters of Harry Potter, Radcliffe has also starred in films such as My Boy Jack, which was based on the true story of Rudyard Kipling’s son’s experiences during World War I.
